We cracked £5000 Ant! And still going. I promised you we would keep the fight to find a way to help those who suffer like you did. It’s happening - I’m sure in time they will be able to fight this awful disease, just like the new medications for cystic fibrosis. I love you

Elsie So many memories Where do I start Your sofas were posh And your house very smart I remember the clock Like a burst of sunlight And the China horse With his “Alf made it” cart I remember how much You loved pictures of cats And a cup with a saucer And cleaning up stuff I envied how tidy everything was And worried you’d think me A terrible slob But we soon found the things That we both found a treat Like horlicks and baileys And chocolates to eat You’d share everything With your generous heart And make lots of tea before we’d depart One Christmas we bought you two grandparent bears And your eyes lit up And I knew then and there That that was a job You were so proud to do And we’d be just fine, me and you We had many fun times in lots of locations But France visits were special, a trip to new nations My pleasure would come as I looked at the faces Of you and your son, enjoying new places And playing with animals dressed in your wellies Feeding the chickens Then our own bellies I remember how Antony laughed out loud When you gave Alf some cutters and announced all proud He’ll soon have the garden All neatly cut back “With 13 acres” Ant said Good luck with that Picking the blackberries Making the pie Chatting and laughing as time ticked by And after they’d gone Those men in our life We found more things in common And bonded the “wife” Both now widows By the same cruel disease I am so very thankful For what you gave me Insight, foresight The man that I loved A family to treasure Memories to keep And the cleansing cathartic bloody good weep! Oh and One last thing As you go on your way Tell Alf and Ant we all said hey x
